“FRESH LOOK”- Evi Salon opens in a lovingly restored building downtown Hillsboro.

Last year, around this time, 229 South Main in Hillsboro, IL was nothing shy of the “ugliest building on the block”. And so it was named by many downtowners. A year later Brian and Anna Limbaugh are opening Evi Salon- a fresh, modern, four chair space, full of color, historic detail and energy.

Tin ceilings, pendants from Schoohouse electric, exposed brick, and original hickory floors… All Favorites.

Anna will be joined by three local, talented, independent stylists, Lisa Lipe, Lainey Fenton, Kelby McCoy, and Gail Downs.

Neeearly there on the outside. Tony Marcolini is making a cnc cut sign for above the door and Jeff Dunn is making a neon sign for the interior. Tiling the entries and a few lights mounted on the building and she’ll be done!
The ceiling in this space is one of my favorite details. The big doors and panels around the room were old doors from a house demo in town. (Thanks to Jim May!) Also Brian Limbaugh used the last door to make the cheeky, yellow checkout counter. (That talented guy made the drawer sets and coffee bar too.)
I love this space, and Brian and Anna have added a fresh touch of their own with the furniture and attention to detail. It’s so good to see another good, cool, modern business open downtown in our small town. It’s a good start to the year!
